Warp knitted fabric is knitted by producing courses of interlinked threads and varying the interweaving pattern by the action on selected warp threads of a Jaquard motion which is driven at a rate less than the rate of production of the courses. The variation is achieved in a warp knitting machine by varying the number of needles 6, 7 underlapped by the threads 5 of the guides 8 of a guide bar which has a shogging stroke of uniform length. The variation is achieved by selectively raising the bar, by means of the Jaquard motion, to raise the guide to a position 8<SP>1</SP> where the thread in position 5<SP>1</SP> underlaps fewer needles. The Specification describes a number of patterns achieved by the method. |
