1,062,117. Moulding cellular materials. J. A.-A. DELBARRE, J. C. L. P. DELBARRE, and J. P. M. SCHMITT. April 10, 1964 [April 11, 1963], No. 15009/64. Addition to 1,044,533. Heading B5A. The apparatus described in the parent Specification for moulding cellular materials in which the cells are non-intercommunicating is modified in that the inert fluid is heated and circulated through the mould during the moulding process. In the embodiment shown, silicone oil 12 1 in a reservoir 10 is heated by heater 12 and delivered to the bottom of mould 2 by a suction pump 14. The oil rises through a perforated porcelain plate 16, past a rubber blank 1, and flows out of mould 2 through conduits 17, 17 1 to be returned to reservoir 10. A conduit 11 may place oil 12 1 at atmospheric pressure, or pressure may be applied therethrough. To increase expansion of blank 1, a sub-atmospheric pressure may be created in mould 2 by closing valve 19 and reversing pump 14. In a second embodiment, Fig. 2 (not shown), the above system is duplicated so that oil may be circulated at two distinct temperatures, e.g. at a pre-vulcanization temperature from one circuit and at a curing or vulcanization temperature from the other. |
