<p>Power service monitoring apparatus 10 for a power supply network comprises a power monitoring circuit 18 for monitoring an electrical characteristic of at least one conductor 16 of a power delivery cable 12, and includes at least one power monitor input means 20 in communication with the or each conductor 16. The electrical characteristic can be phase voltage, voltage change or interphase/neutral relationship. The apparatus 10 also comprises a timing circuit 30; a power module 26 for providing power to the apparatus 10; and a processor 28 capable of receiving signals from the power monitoring circuit 18 and the timing circuit 30, and outputting information regarding a change in the electrical characteristic of the conductor with an associated time determined by the timing circuit 30 and; a communication module 32 for transmitting the information about the status of the power network to an external source. The apparatus 10 may also determine and output a cause of the monitored change in the electrical characteristics of the conductor.</p> |
