<p>A damper mechanism (100) comprises first and second parts (120A, 140A) having respective first and second opposed cam surfaces (122A, 142A) optionally with non- rubbing equiangular spiral geometry, wherein relative translational movement between the parts from a first to second configuration results in the second part (140A) pivoting relative to the first part about an axis (150), and a damper (160) coupled to the second part so as to damp rotation thereof. Linear motion may be converted into rotational energy and dissipated by a rotary damper which may be a speed dependent paddle damper. The mechanism may be used in reciprocating devices to lessen rebound or impact and may form part of an actuator.</p> |
