A collapsible cake stand or cupcake is adapted so as to allow it to be concertina folded or otherwise collapsed into a flat packed configuration or else have extendable members. The cake stand may be fabricated by punching or cutting it from a sheet of a paper, card or plastics material. Shelving or multiple compartments may be provided that in use may support an item such as a cup cake.
