The method involves detecting a gesture of the operator in the gesture information and evaluating the gesture information to detect a command of the operator. A parameter of text-to-speech output is adjusted using the operator command in order to manipulate the text-to-speech output. The gesture is detected as a spatial sequence of movements of a body part (118) of the operator within a detection area (116) of a detection device (102).
