The method involves identifying a pair of state variables that are correlated with respect to one another, and defining groups of comparable states for the state variables. The groups of comparable states are selected by a computer (11) in response to change from an initial state to a subsequent state of a system, where the comparable states are closest to the subsequent state. The transition functions of the selected set of the groups of comparable states are regulated by the computer in the regulating of the combustion process. An independent claim is also included for a plant comprising an adjusting device. |
