The present invention relates to a biocompatible and biodegradable water absorbent comprising biopolymers and nanoclay, and a manufacturing method thereof. The biocompatible and biodegradable water absorbent according to the present invention contains biopolymers, nanoclay, and a plasticizer. The manufacturing method of the biocompatible and biodegradable water absorbent comprises the following steps: a step of obtaining a biopolymer solution by mixing the biopolymers, the nanoclay, the plasticizer, and a solvent; and a step of molding the obtained biopolymer solution.
