[Classes 20 (iv) and 107] The ground floor of a building is laid on an under-layer.or sub-floor of bituminous concrete comprising approximately 10 per cent. Asphalt cement, 10 per cent. fine mineral filler, 35 per cent. sand and 45 per cent. 3/4"-1/8" rock aggregate. This layer may be overlaid by one of fine grading to which the floor proper is secured. The floor proper may comprise (1) tongued and grooved boards nailed to battens secured in, and flush with the top of, the subfloor or (2) tiles or (3) a layer of black or coloured polished or matt mastic asphalt. A damp course may be sandwiched between the layers and carried over the footings or the bituminous concrete itself may extend over the footings. |
