FIELD: medicine.SUBSTANCE: skin pH is measured in the patients in the intercurrent period within the most specific manifestations of herpetic eruptions: within vermilion surface in orofacial herpes, within labia majora or foreskin in genital herpes. If skin pH of vermilion surface is less than 4.61, recurrent orofacial herpes developing within the following 6-10 hours is predicted. If genital skin pH is less than 4.71, developing genital herpes is predicted.
