The device has a cable including an end (12) to be connected to a smartphone (10) in a slave mode, and another end (22) to be connected to a digital tachograph (20). A printed circuit board (30) is incorporated between the two ends of the cable for allowing communication between the digital tachograph and the smartphone. The former end of the cable is connected to the smartphone by micro universal serial bus (USB) connection, and the latter end of the cable is connected to the tachograph by RS-232 connection.
