The invention relates to chemical industry, in particular to investigation of properties of hard materials by applying static loads, in particular to the determination of characteristic of constructional steel uniform elongation. A method for the determination of uniform elongation of constructional steel involves operations of stretching standard smooth cylindrical specimens along one axis at different temperatures within the range of from 77 K to 293 K, determination of basic mechanical characteristics and real failure stress characteristic S. Thereafter on the basis of last one the empirical coefficients are calculated, and characteristic of uniform deformation in compression ψand characteristic of uniform elongation δis determined by formulae according to disclosure. The invention makes it possible to determine the property of uniform elongation δof constructional steels or alloys with different levels of ductility within the range ψ= 86.0 % to ψ= 1.5% by data of basic mechanical characteristics &sgr;, &sgr;and ψ, and as result to perform complex analysis of alloy properties and to determine characteristics of brittle strength and mechanical stability to a high accuracy. |
