[Also in Divisions B6 and B8] A method of making open-ended record envelopes or bags with a stuck-in polythene lining comprises removing opposite edge portions of a long strip of paper 10 to form edge flaps 47, the length of each flap being equal to the portions removed, and applying transverse bands of adhesive by bars 56, 58, to secure the polythene lining 72 in such a manner that it is fixed along the opening edges or additionally at the fold end. After the strip 10 and film 72 are joined, longitudinal strips of adhesive are applied by semi-annular flanges 82 of roller 78. The combined strip is cut at 98, 100, the separated envelopes folded at 108-110, and the flaps 47 are turned over to secure the edges by apparatus 143, 144, 156, 144.
