The apparatus has a translation stage (20) i.e. reduction gear, shifted on a part of forward gears (1-4) and reverse gears (R) of a speed change gearbox (10). The forward and reverse gears are arranged downstream to the stage and alternately shiftable on an input shaft (14) and an axle-parallel driven shaft (16) over clutches (18). The stage comprises a jackshaft, where a driven gear wheel (24a) of the stage engages with a gear wheel (22) on the input shaft. A driving-off gear wheel (24b) of the stage engages with fixed gear wheels (34) on a sleeve shaft (32).
