975,124. Bearings. K. G. BECHEM. Sept. 26, 1962 [Sept. 28, 1961], No. 36516/62. Heading F2A. [Also in Division E1] In a bearing for a roller cutter a bearing material layer 7 is cast between a roller 1 and pivot 3, the roller being axially secured on the pivot by a ring 8 on the roller or the pivot engaging a groove 9 of the pivot or roller. Relative movement between the pivot and bearing layer, and the pivot and ring, is prevented, respectively, by locking pins 13 and by any material remaining in a channel 10 after casting of the ring. The bearing layer may be of metal or self-lubricating plastics, and the ring is preferably of plastics. The pivot may consist, Fig. 4, of an elementary pivot 47 and a pin 49, and the ring may be integral with the bearing layer. A carbide insert (not shown) may be fitted before the plastics layer is applied. Water and grease lubrication may be provided through passages 55, 56 respectively.
