There exist methods by which, in the event of an abnormality of position data, current position data is estimated from past position data, and the position data is corrected on the basis of the estimated position data. However, in instances in which past position data includes errors, there is a possibility that the estimated position data will contain even greater errors, making it necessary to decide appropriately whether to continue servo control while estimating and correcting position data, or whether servo control should be halted without estimation of position data. To solve this problem, position data is generated by two distinct means; the results of determinations as to whether two sets of position data match or fail to match are saved; the likelihood that past position data at that point in time is correct is predicted from past results of match/failed match determinations; and it is determined whether or not to estimate current position data.
|
