The present invention relates to a silicon oxide-carbon composite and a method for preparing same, and more particularly, to a method for preparing a silicon oxide-carbon composite and to a silicon oxide-carbon composite prepared thereby, the method comprising the steps of: mixing silicon and silicon dioxide and providing same inside a reaction chamber; reducing pressure inside the reaction chamber to reach a high vacuum level while increasing the temperature inside the reaction chamber to a reaction temperature; performing a reaction of the silicon and the silicon dioxide in a reducing atmosphere; and coating carbon on the surface of the silicon oxide prepared by the reaction.
