A carding engine has dust laden air withdrawn from the region adjacent the nip of doffer 13 and cylinder 11 through a slot 36 extending widthwise of the card into a chamber 31 formed above the nip. The carding engine is generally similar to that of Specification 762,403, in which dust laden air is withdrawn from the enclosed or partially enclosed regions between the taker-in 15 and main cylinder 11, inside the flats 12 and between the doffer 13 and cylinder 11, respectively through hoses 24, 28 and 30 connected to end plates. Chamber 31 has an aperture in the end remote from hose 30 to create a cross-draught. Cover 39 composed of two pivoted transparent plates extends over a Crosrol Varga Conversion Unit.</p> |
