The assembly has a main stage (1) with a main piston (18), where an electrical pulse is generated by control electronics (3) on the main piston, so as to produce a brief partial stroke of the main piston. The main piston forms a positive covering in its base position or a shut-off position, where the control electronics stores a minimum pulse duration corresponding to the covering, so as to compensate minimum stroke of the main piston. A directional valve is servo-controlled over a pilot stage (2) with a pilot piston (4). An independent claim is also included for a method for automatic adjustment of a valve arrangement.
