The supercharger (10) has a cell wheel (32) rotatably arranged around an axis (34) and axially penetrating through a channel (50). An electromotor (37) rotates the cell wheel relative to the axis. A stator (35) of the electromotor is arranged on the axis. A rotor (45) of the electromotor is arranged on or inside the cell wheel. A control device (48) drives the cell wheel according to rotation speed of the rotor. The cell wheel is axially held on a shaft over a rolling bearing (46). The housing comprises a fresh gas inlet (38). An independent claim is also included for an internal combustion engine.
