The present invention provides methods for producing a nonα-keto peracid that has lower toxicity and lower corrosivity. The present embodiments also provide methods and compositions for reducing microbes on a surface, methods and compositions for preventing and reducing infectious vegetative bacteria on a substrate, and methods and compositions for treating a wound. In particular, compositions of the invention provide for a mixture of anα-keto peracid and a nonα-keto peracid that works synergistically to reduce microbes on a surface, to prevent vegetative bacteria on a surface and to heal a wound in animals or humans. |
