A method of polishing a stone surface (such as a floor), the method including: grinding the stone surface while the surface is wet with a honing disc, the honing disc having a first grit; grinding the stone surface while the surface is dry with a polishing disc after the surface is ground with the honing disc, the polishing disc having a second grit that is greater than the first grit; burnishing the stone surface with a burnish pad after the surface is ground with the polishing disc, the burnish pad having a third grit that is greater than the second grit; and applying a liquid protector to the stone surface after the surface is burnished with the burnish pad. A liquid film forming composition including from about 1 wt% to about 10 wt% polymer and about 0.1 wt% to about 5 wt% wax.
