In a high temperature treatment furnace, a first shutter (25) for opening and closing a first communication passage (23) for allowing communication between the inside of a first bobbin chamber (11) and the inside of the main furnace body (3) is provided midway in an upper connecting sleeve (21) so as to allow reciprocating movement in a horizontal opening and closing direction. A second shutter (57) for opening and closing a second communication passage (55) for allowing communication between the inside of a second bobbin chamber (33) and the inside of the main furnace body (3) is provided midway in a lower connecting sleeve (53) so as to allow reciprocating movement in a horizontal opening and closing direction. Said high temperature treatment furnace is able to improve the productivity of high temperature treatment of reinforcing fibers by greatly shortening the time necessary until resumption of the high temperature treatment of the reinforcing fibers.
