The present invention relates to an electrochemical cell (10) such as a fuel cell, an electrolysis cell and/or a metal-air cell, which has a tubular functional layer system (11) that comprises two electrode layers (11a, 11b) and an electrolyte layer (11c) arranged between the electrode layers (11a, 11b). In order to achieve good mechanical stability, as well as high performance capability of the cell (10), the cell (10) has at least one support web (13) which is formed a distance (d) away from the tubular functional layer system (11).
