A light scanning device is provided with: a first semiconductor laser (44a) for emitting a light beam (L1); a polygon mirror (42) for deflecting the light beam (L1); a reflecting mirror (64a) for reflecting the light beam (L1) deflected by the polygon mirror (42) to a photoreceptor drum (13) and causes the light beam to be incident thereon; and a BD sensor (72) for detecting the light beam (L1) deflected by the polygon mirror (42), scans the photoreceptor drum (13) with the light beam (L1), and sets the timing of scanning of the photoreceptor drum (13) with the light beam (L1) on the basis of the timing of detection of the light beam (L1) by the BD sensor (72). The BD sensor (72) is disposed at a position more apart from the polygon mirror (42) than the final-stage reflecting mirror (64a) for reflecting the light beam (L1) immediately before incidence on the photoreceptor drum (13), and within the scanning angle range (α) of the light beam (L1) which corresponds to the effective scanning region of the photoreceptor drum (13). |
