PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique capable of preventing a steering from rotation irrespective of intention of an occupant upon collision of a vehicle.SOLUTION: A rack-and-pinion type steering device 50 for a vehicle comprises: a housing 90 which can be attached to a sub-frame 31 provided to a lower part of a vehicle body 10; a rack-and-pinion 71 housed in the housing 90; a rack shaft 66 to which a rack 72 of the rack-and-pinion 71 is formed; a pinion shaft 64 to which a pinion 71 of the rack-and-pinion 71 is formed; a steering shaft 62 coupled to the pinion shaft 64 via a universal joint 63; and a steering wheel 61 coupled to the steering shaft 62. A fragile part 95 is formed in the housing 90, and from this fragile part 95, the housing 90 breaks by impact force so that the rack 72 is disengaged from the pinion 71. |
