PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-concentration coating composition for tablets with preferable productivity to coat a substrate, where the composition contains an aqueous solution of either a very low viscosity cellulose ether or a low-hydroxypropyl cellulose ether.SOLUTION: A composition comprises: an aqueous solution of a low-hydroxypropyl cellulose ether present in an amount of 10 mass%. The low-hydroxypropyl cellulose ether is a hydroxypropylmethylcellulose having 27-30 mass% methoxyl groups and 4.0-7.5 mass% hydroxypropoxyl groups, and having a viscosity less than 3 mPa s when measured as a 2 mass% aqueous solution at 20°C.
