In an authentication system for a printer and a printer toner, comprising a printer having a printer security algorithm and a printer toner having a toner security algorithm, an original toner can be protected from being duplicated by making the printer and the toner exchange encryption information through a mutually shared security algorithm. According to a security algorithm for a printer and a printer toner, provided are a printer and a toner authentication system configured to support techniques of different levels according to the quality of a toner even for a recycled toner that is not an original product so that a user can use an original toner and the recycled toner of which the quality has been managed.
