The profile (1) has fastening interface (4) i.e. screw channel (4a), provided at an inner side (3). The fastening interface is designed for fixing a room-side cover so that the profile is designed for selective retaining of the cover of different thicknesses. Clamping elements are fastened at the fastening interface for fixing the cover. The fastening interface includes fastening bars (5) with edges (5a) bent at free ends, such that the edges are aligned along a contact plane. A contact bar (6) projects from a front wall (16) to the inner side. An independent claim is also included for a sound absorber.
