PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a positive electrode material and a method for manufacturing the positive electrode material capable of preventing transition metals from eluting into an electrolytic solution of a lithium ion secondary battery, and also to provide a battery which is excellent in discharge capacity and cycle characteristics as the battery using the positive electrode material.SOLUTION: In a method of manufacturing a positive electrode active material for a lithium ion secondary battery, a lithium-containing complex oxide including a Li-element and at least one kind of a transition metal element selected from Ni, Co, and Mn (where the molar amount of Li element is more than 1.2 times that of the total molar amount of the transition metal elements, and fluorine gas are brought in contact with each other. |
