PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently producing PAS while controlling a molecular weight thereof, the PAS having a decreased amount of volatile components and a chlorine content of 1,000 ppm or less after recovery by a quench method and 2,000 ppm or less after recovery by a flash method.SOLUTION: There is provided a process for producing a polyarylene sulfide resin by reacting a sulfidation agent with a dihalogenated aromatic compound and a monohalogenated compound in an organic polar solvent, wherein, with respect to 100 moles of the sulfidation agent, the dihalogenated aromatic compound and the monohalogenated compound are reacted in amounts of 95 moles or more but less than 105 moles and 0.01 mole or more but less than 5 moles, respectively. |
