Disclosed are a method and an apparatus for controlling engine torque when the engine of an ISG vehicle is restarted. According to the present invention, if the number of rotation of the engine received after releasing the idle stop according to the driving transmission request caused by driver′s acceleration will exceeds the preset criterion, an engine torque reduction request signal is transferred. If the engine torque reduced according to the engine torque reduction request signal reaches target torque, the driving force of the engine is transmitted to a gear shift stage by directly connecting the engine clutch so that the number of rotation of the engine which is reduced when the engine is restarted by the driver′s acceleration will is increased by controlling engine torque. Therefore, the present invention can improve response to the driver′s acceleration will by controlling the engine torque based on the monitored number of rotation of the engine when the engine is restarted by the driver′s acceleration will and can increase feeling of acceleration.
