[Also in Division B5] In tensioning cables for moulding prestressed concrete members cables 22 are fed from the reels 23 into the arms 46 where they are held by air clamps while being cut by the saw 44. The arms are then advanced to the splaying mechanism 74 where wedges are inserted in the cable ends so they are firmly held by the anchor plates 70. The arms then move along the tracks 53, 54 until they are parallel when the anchor plates 70 are locked in the header 135, while the centres of the cables are held round the header 99. The arms are withdrawn after the air clamps have been released and the cables tautened by the jack 11 after a pallet 104 has been inserted between the two headers 99, 135 to hold them rigidly.</p> |
