<p>Disclosed herein are a transaction method and system. The transaction method includes the steps of registering at least one entity with a transaction system (410, 420), associating an individual profile with each registered entity corresponding to an individual and associating a business profile with each registered entity corresponding to a business. Each individual profile includes at least one of a list of wanted items and a list of owned items (415). Each business profile includes at least a list of inventory items (425). The method identifies a match (425) between a wanted item in a list of wanted items in a profile associated with a first registered entity and an owned item in a list of owned items in a profile of a second registered entity. The method then effects a commercial transaction (430, 435) based on the identified match.</p>
