PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel anthracene derivative having a high refractive index and excellent heat resistance, a method for producing the same, a compound obtained from the anthracene derivative, a composition, a cured product, and a fluorescent element.SOLUTION: The anthracene derivative is represented by formula (1), and the compound is obtained by using the anthracene derivative as an intermediate. The composition contains the anthracene derivative or the compound. The cured product is obtained by curing the composition. The fluorescent element comprises the cured product. The method for producing the anthracene derivative includes a step of reacting anthracene-9-carbaldehyde with an indole in the presence of an acid catalyst or in the absence of a catalyst in an organic solvent.
