PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition which is capable of preventing adhesion of a cell to a surface and is not cytotoxic or cytostatic.SOLUTION: A composition comprising an extract from an aquatic organism is disclosed. The composition is capable of preventing adhesion of a cell to a surface and is not cytotoxic or cytostatic. Medical devices comprising the same and methods for preventing or treating a pathological infection using the same are also disclosed.
