The metal (e.g. steel) insert of a steering wheel is initially formed from a continuous circular ring 4, Figs. 1, 2 and 3, wherein a section 8 thereof is bent and disposed in a plane angularly disposed with respect to the plane of the remaining section 6 of ring 4, and a hub 12 is welded to the section 8 substantially at its mid-point, so that the axis of its bore 14 is substantially perpendicular to the plane of the section 6 and passes through the centre of curvature of the latter. The whole or part of the ring 4 is covered with synthetic plastic 16 or natural or synthetic rubber. |
