The present invention provides a gas generator including: a reaction part for heating wasted oil so that the wasted oil is incompletely combusted or thermally decomposed; a gas supply unit for supplying inert gas to the reaction part; a wasted oil injection part for injecting the wasted oil to the reaction part; and a slag port located at a lower portion of the reaction part and provided therein with slags to supply heat for the incomplete combustion or the thermal decomposition of the wasted oil to the reaction part. In addition, provided is a method of generating gas by utilizing the wasted material, which includes: preparing the slag port provided therein with the slags having a preset temperature or more; providing the reaction part located at the upper portion of the slag port to receive the wasted oil injected therein for the incomplete combustion or the thermal decomposition of the wasted oil by the heat from the slags; injecting the inert gas into the reaction part; and injecting the wasted oil into the reaction part if oxygen concentration of the reaction part is equal to or less than preset oxygen concentration after measuring the oxygen concentration of the reaction part. |
