PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a near-infrared absorbing composition excellent in near-infrared blocking performance and moisture resistance.SOLUTION: A near-infrared absorbing composition contains (1) a phosphoester copper complex, (2) a polymerizable compound, and (3) a solvent. The phosphoester copper complex is prepared either by reacting a copper salt with only a phosphodiester compound (A) represented by the specified general formula (I), or by reacting a copper salt with the phosphodiester compound (A) represented by the specified general formula (I) and a phosphomonoester compound (B) represented by the specified general formula (II) with a molar ratio of (A)/(B) greater than one, where Rto Rin the formulas (I) and (II) each represent an organic group.
