PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for creating a color conversion lookup table.SOLUTION: There is provided a method for creating a color conversion lookup table. A conceptual representation of a slice subject to color conversion is displayed. A color conversion object is defined by a color coordinate system including a neutral axis (502) and a plurality of color axes. The slice is defined by a plurality of grid points on the color coordinate system in a common plane orthogonal to the neutral axis (502). In addition, a boundary of the slice is defined along a plurality of surfaces of a color conversion object in which at least one axis of the plurality of color axes is a minimum or maximum value. The method further includes a step of determining output values to other grid points by applying design rules to a specific grid point. Output values to the slice are stored in a part of a lookup table (208). A tool for creating a 3D lookup table is also described.
