PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and method for simultaneously transmitting many different analog and/or digital signals by transmitting a sub-octave signal via a relatively-long optical fiber.SOLUTION: RF signals from modems and/or high-frequency (RF) inserters are up-converted to obtain RF signal bands arranged in a single sub-octave signal at an interval without overlapping. The sub-octave signal is converted into an optical signal and transmitted to an optical fiber. At a downstream end of the optical fiber, the received optical signal is converted into an RF signal. The RF signal is then filtered, down-converted, and transmitted to a selected coaxial distribution unit. From the coaxial distribution unit, the RF signal is demodulated at a slave modem to recover the initial analog and/or digital signal. |
