PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique of compressing or decompressing image data in a method according to coincidence of gray-scale values in multiple pieces of image data.SOLUTION: A compression/decompression module 40 provided in a display device 1 includes: a comparison section which, when first image data and second image data representing gray-scale values of a plurality of pixels with m bits are input, compares the gray-scale values of corresponding pixels in the input first image data and second image data; a compression section which compresses the second image data, and generates compression data including identification data indicating coincidence of predetermined n bits (n≤m) of the gray-scale values on the basis of a comparison result of the comparison section; and a control section which controls data indicating a gray-scale value of a corresponding pixel in the first image data and the compression data generated by the compression section to be output in association with each other.
