The support (1) has struts (4-6) mechanically connected with an exhaust system (2) for supporting the exhaust system 2 n relation to a body part (7) of a motor car (3). A mechanical supporting plate is connected with the struts and with the body part by using a weld connection, a rivet joint or a plug connection for supporting the struts at the body part. A deformation element is arranged between the supporting plate and the exhaust system or welded with the exhaust system for limiting a deformation path of the support of the exhaust system in a direction of the body part. An independent claim is also included for an exhaust system of a motor car.
