A machine-to-machine communication method of a first device according to the present invention includes the steps of: searching a second device which supports machine-to-machine communication; receiving second network information which includes information on the internet access state of the second device from the searched second device; and determining either the first device or the second device as a group owner based on first network information including information about the internet access state of the first device and the second network information of the second device. If the first network information shows that internet access is impossible, the first device determines the second device as the group owner.
