The present invention provides a radar apparatus having a function of preventing a voltage saturation of a baseband signal and a method for preventing a voltage saturation of a baseband signal in a radar system for a vehicle, which are capable of automatically adjusting a voltage offset of the baseband signal, considering a magnitude of a beat frequency reflected from a target object. For this purpose, the radar apparatus according to the present invention comprises: a frequency generator which generates a reference frequency signal having a waveform profile; a transmission antenna which transmits a reference frequency signal of a high frequency band, which is generated by the frequency generator, so as to detect a target object; at least one reception antenna which receives a reflected wave that is reflected from the target object; at least one mixer which extracts a baseband beat frequency signal with respect to the target object by a difference between the reflected wave and the reference frequency signal generated by the frequency generator; and at least one signal reception module which amplifies the extracted beat frequency signal and adjusts a voltage offset value according to whether a signal is positive or negative.
