The flatbed-sheet punching- or embossing machine (100) has a sheet transport system (7), a processing station (2,3,4) with a tool (21,30), a drive (705) for driving the sheet transport system and the processing station, and a machine controller (15). A drive train is connected with a chain drive over a switchable coupling and is connected with the drive over a coupling-brake-combination. The sheet transport system has a sensor for monitoring faults and defects. An independent claim is included for a method for quick switching off of a flatbed-sheet punching- or embossing machine.
