<p>A retractable Universal Serial Bus (USB) connector comprises a first module 100 and a second module 200. The first module 100 has a first insulating main body 1 containing a first conductive module 2 having a plurality of first 21 and second 22 conductive terminals, each formed with a respective contact portion 211, 221 and a respective mounting portion 212, 222. The second module 200 has a second insulating main body 3 containing a second conductive module 4 having a plurality of third and fourth conductive terminals, each formed with a respective contact portion 411, 421 and a respective conductive portion formed on the underside of the second module 200. The second module 200 is linearly movable on the first module 100 and allows electrical connection between the conductive portions with the corresponding contact portions 211, 221 when the second module is slid along the first module towards the first module contacts to a connection location. Electrical disconnection of the conductive portions from the corresponding contact portions 211, 221 occurs when the second module 200 is retracted from the connection location. The advantage is that, based on the sliding position of the second module 200, a single connector unit can operate as a plug or socket without requiring an adapter.</p> |
