A method for manufacturing a fiber-reinforced plastic that places a compressible reinforcing fiber base material made of discontinuous reinforcing fibers in the cavity of a mold, injects melted thermoplastic resin into the cavity, and impregnates it into the reinforcing fiber base material, wherein the mold is configured as one capable of changing the cavity volume, and the reinforcing fiber base material after having been or while being impregnated with the thermoplastic resin is compressed in the cavity by reducing the cavity volume of the mold after injecting the melted thermoplastic resin. This method makes it possible to mold fiber-reinforced plastics, even if they have complicated shapes, having high mechanical properties easily and inexpensively.
|
