The present invention relates to a system and a method for controlling a remote device. The system comprises a control terminal for transmitting controlled terminal selection information to a remote agent device when a controlled terminal is selected with the operation of a remote control application and for transmitting a remote control signal including key event information to the controlled terminal through the remote agent device when a key event is sensed in a remote control screen received from the controlled terminal; a remote agent device for transmitting a remote control function activation request signal to the controlled terminal when controlled terminal selection information is received from the control terminal and for transmitting operation screen data to the control terminal by encoding the operation screen data into images based on the performance information of the control terminal when the operation screen data is received from the controlled terminal; and the controlled terminal for activating a remote control function by receiving the remote control function activation request signal from the remote agent device, for transmitting currently outputted remote control screen to the control terminal through the remote agent device, for executing operation according to the remote control signal when the remote control signal is received from the control terminal, and for transmitting the operation screen data to the remote agent device.
