[Also in Division G5] A lighting fixture for a vehicle comprises a housing, a light-transmitting panel and a light source in the housing, the panel including a window area for controlled directionally concentrated light transmission, and a translucent display section adjacent the window area for illuminating a display forming part thereof, the housing including light reflecting inner surface portions for directing light from the source to the window area and display section. In the form shown, the fitting comprises a base 10 constituted by flat surfaces 17, 18, 19 of which the surface 17 is specularly and the surfaces 18, 19 are diffusely reflecting, and mounting rails 22, 27 at the longitudinal edges of the surfaces 17, 19 which are secured to the vehicle and provided with hooked portions 31, 41 engaging shaped ends of a light transmitting panel consisting of end surfaces 35, 37 of clear material provided with longitudinal prisms 51 and a central arcuate portion of diffusing material having channels 53 at the ends to receive the edges of translucent or opaque cards bearing, e.g. advertising matter. The ends of the fitting are closed by metal plates and several fittings may be mounted end-to-end along the vehicle. |
